A Memoir by Amanda May Philp Raw. Poetic. Unapologetically True.

Welcome to the official home of Love Child, the debut memoir by Amanda May Philp—a courageous and emotionally powerful account of survival, identity, and the long road to reclaiming one’s voice.

This is not a memoir about moving on.
It’s a memoir about owning the truth.

Born into silence. Raised under religious scrutiny. Shaped by trauma, abandonment, and cultural tension—Amanda’s life has been anything but ordinary. For years, she was told to sit still, stay quiet, and carry the weight of her pain alone. But silence nearly destroyed her. So she wrote her way out.

Love Child is Amanda’s unflinching journey through a childhood defined by secrets and a womanhood forged in fire. From surviving sexual violence and spiritual exile to discovering the sacredness of her name, this book is a reckoning with everything she was told not to say.

“You don’t need permission to start telling your story. You just need the courage trust yourself.”

more about me

Amanda May Philp is a Canadian author whose voice was born out of silence. Her debut memoir, Love Child, is a bold and poetic account of trauma, resilience, and spiritual reclamation. But long before she became a writer, Amanda was a girl raised in the shadows—told to follow the rules, keep the secrets, and never ask questions.

She didn’t listen.

Born into a life marked by religious scrutiny, cultural complexity, and emotional exile, Amanda endured more than most would in a lifetime—sexual violence, abandonment, identity erasure, and the crushing weight of silence. But somewhere along the way, she found power in the one thing she was never allowed to use: her voice.
